Hello-all!
To answer your question Jerem...if you go for the cheapest solution, you probably stay in what you call hawfull condition. For a compromise/cheap solution, I would definitely go for a condenser mic. It is not so much more expensive than dynamic (sometimes not at all), and with only a little bit more effort works much better on stage and in studio.

At the moment, one of the mics I use for live is Audio Technica 3031. Sometimes I also record rehearsals on it. But it is not the only mic you can or even should buy. You can chose for a similar microphone from numerous makers; Rode, Shure, Oktava, SE...
It is a little bit of investment, but not so big if you plan to do something with didge and you are not happy with what soundmen over the planet offer you.
;-)

At the moment I go through my soundclips of gear to put online to make everything more understandable with examples, so maybe that will clear some things up.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Take care,
Du

Hello,
I've to agree it's a really rich article (and experienced indeed) so thanks a lot!!!!
I'm just wondering what would you advice for beginner/cheap compromise.
If you have time to spend surfing around go and listen to the link, it has been record in hawfull condition, so I'm trying first to know what I want specifically, and then maybe to buy somethingd better.
Best regars

Awesome article Du! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experiences of your recording process. I think this is the most anyone has written about recording for didgeridoo anywhere. :-)
