Two years after Kosmopterix, after long search in depth and darkness of Kozmos vastness, a new articulation of unseen winds of didgeridoo music is born!

So what is new about the new album? What do the new “creatures” bring us?

Firstly, the new sound, the new code, the “air” code of didgeridoo music.  In counterbalance to “earth” code, which is playing with lips in permanent touch to didgeridoo and full body motion, the air code has only partial touch to the didgeridoo but also full body motion. The result is more discreet, defined sound compared to the full and saturated sound of earth code.

The air code was firstly introduced with songs like “Korvo Eksaltiko” and “Lake of Awareness” (second halves), but did not reach the full potential of expression at that time.

Secondly, and mostly for didgeridoo fellow players, new techniques arose. They again rely heavily on breathing, but also incorporate control factor of stopping the lips vibration which gives again this “well defined” sound.

Thirdly, no artificial reverb was used, and there was a very peculiar method of recording instead. The sound of Dubokobud rests on the Y construction of three didgeridoos.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AuxJqbDtBC4 The “stem” was the playing didgeridoo, while branches were used for recording. So the sound of Dubokobud can also be expressed as a stereo square of one didgeridoo sonic imprint. The total reverb is quite less than usual and gives a high level of detail, revealing all the nuances of playing.

Fourthly, new production was applied. The sound picture was put more to middle frequencies and presence to capture the articulation. Also, harmonics were specially captured and redrawn into recording which you can hear as “sonors” following the song.

Fifthly, Dubokobud was played only from sketches of songs. It relied on the present moment fluctuation in the Kramasonik studio.

Sixtly, Dubokobud is the current reflection of cosmic currents.  It is what is flowing through this area in the universe, complementing the energy that is already here.

My dear Breathers, I have had a most wonderful didgeridoo solo tour. Too difficult to put in words who I have met… old friends… new friends… animals and plants friends. Places I have seen, white, gray, blue and green… didn’t hurt my spleen. I was driving a lot, walking only sometimes to feel my human walking body again and remove the stress from the ass. I have tasted some really fine liquids and solids. Played some concerts, you wouldn’t believe. So please allow me this fantastic electronic medium to send you some postcards regardless of your presence there, on the postcard when it happened, or not.

We open the show with Duboki oblici oblaci - an almost non touching didgeridoo piece which I allowed myself to change every time This one is from Vlaardingen, Netherlands, close to Rotterdam.

Next I take you to Lille. The recording was attacked by a rather high level of distortion. But I somehow find it charming and musical. So I present you two new songs from Dubokobud in their newest form- Prorok oblaka and Pi.14

And the best, I must confess I have saved for the last, is the ruler of my didgeridoo land, a fearsome king with a deep mighty voice, at least so I’ve come to understand. Secretly I tell you, one of the two most majestic Duende Didgeridoos we have ever made, in its firstest performance! Presenting you, Oldhar the Celestial Traveler who will sing for you an unnamed cosmic song for you in his profound voice;

This is the short description long list of didgeridoo only summer of Dubravko Lapaine. It can be used as a map to your own possibilities for the coming years.

• It started all in a beautiful village in Spain, called Ibort at Encuentro de Didgeridoo.

In the evening, there was a dark night, with rain, but concert was there, all the same, people were there, not wanting to go, sounds had to flow and flow; watch the video.
On this fabulous (long) way, Druyd also visited Fran6, Ahaw, the great didgeridoo comic author.

• Then came the didgeridoo festival which has indisputably the best sound of all didgeridoo festivals – Italian Didjin’Oz, thanks to the Sound Master, Mr Perfect Superman Magro.The stage is also very very nice.

• Next in the didge stop was fabulous Rhythm Tree Festival, probably the most perspective didgeridoo festival of today – highly recommended.

• And off we were for some didgeridoo teaching at Eddy Halat’s magnificent forest – to the best organized didgeridoo event. If you are a didgeridoo learning enthusiast, this is highly recommended.  Taste for yourself the feeling of the after-workshop concert by Dubravko on YouTube.

• There was a gap in didgeridoo events, and the next one to visit was Austria didgeridoo festival.

To see great organizer Chris that showed no stress was very impressive. Place is beautiful!

• Didgeridoo intensive period of teaching and performing started with guys in Berlin Didge ‘N’ Culture Shop,  who organize great events of didgeridoo world.

The journey continued in Hannover with great Mario, the didgeridoo initiator of new age. Also great Ansgar was (a) present.  This path passed on to few days with truly great Tom Fronza where experience and laughter were evenly shared.

Then the scenery changes to Holland where the host was Hans Karsen – Treeforce from Gayatree organizes a great great concert and a workshop. Great treatment, and truly greatest audience. Du was called “The Lord of the Didge”

Road rolled down to southern Germany where great great laughs were shared with Michael from Positive Vibrations and there was also the biggest summer workshop. In the background the didgeridoo documentary was being made. You will find out all about that one.

• The path finished with great Gregory of Didgeridoo Passion, who really showed some genuine passion. The workshop was rewarded with legendary French food and hospitality.

But the evening was rewarded by the gift from the skies, as Du was performing with lead heavy storm sky,  in an ancient Abbaye of Marbach. A concert that all will remember. Thank you Michele for the most incredible concert photographs, made only in candle light!

There was a long and even longer void in time on this Du-and-didgeridoo website. The reasons for this are probably many…

#1 Du started being very serious about his band Druyd, didgeridoo-istic guitar-ophilic singing family. This means lots of rehearsals, plans, performances. But… there is a place to follow this part of him and it is called druydband.com

#2 He has been recording new album with this same familiar Druyd – and it is now happily out and free on the biggest sea. Even that piece of Du is somewhere around for you to access and (why not?) impress: druyd.bandcamp.com

- There have been many and even more concerts all around Europe this summer. And there are more coming, solo and with Druyd. There is even a part of this to experience on another place nearby called Youtube, and here are small links where you can find recent Du’s solo and Druyd concerts at a fantastic Italian didgeridoo festival Didjin’Oz 2010.

#4 At last… Du has been dreaming in the tube world in his studio for some uncountable hours… Very important for him, also important for you if you like his music… But this part is not on the internet. This could maybe be only felt as the invisible part of this website. Even much vaster than the visible part, it is the huge ground for every music he does. And it is immensly beautiful to him. But every now and than a piece of it becomes visible to you and me in this reality. We call it a song.

As you may know, Du makes his own didgeridoos. He has been for some years now. Ever since it happened that when he decided to buy didgeridoo he just could not find any instrument that satisfied his playing needs. And since these instruments became very much a mirror of his own views on playing and, in a way, unique, Du decided to open a small high-end didgeridoo boutique and tube museum. Where everything is about quality, music, details, sounds, experiments, beauty. Didgeridoos are his life passion and I think you will be able to feel that in the new didge cosmic space he is preparing. It will be a small landscape where you will be able to buy didgeridoo-like instruments, but also many articles on didgeridoo playing and philosophy, didgeridoo making, audio-samples and videos. The aim is to spread the knowledge about this both simple and complex instrument. And give some other passionate didgeridoo seekers a possibility to play on instruments of the highest quality that are capable of being the ultimate teachers. A possibility Du himself longed for in the years of active development of his techniques and music worlds.

This was a busy, beautiful, enthusiastic month. Du and Druyd decided to make some Christmas cards this year.  And I can proudly present them to you here and now with huge smile over our faces. I invite you for some enjoyment:

I can tell you some secrets about it. This is how it happened. Du one evening discovered the first sentence that has been flying freely and yet untouched in the air of the studio, and with the BIGGEST smile he told us all: “Rinkel Finkel TinkelG Tondo, how would you like a glass of Mondo?”

Then, within a few days, the rest just poured out of him. And the new task was born – to search for music. This was Druyd’s first “film music assignment”! Yr was absolutely fantastic. He would sit on the FAT BOY sofa in the studio with the text in his hands and mysteriously create musical plot out of it.

At the same time Du and I started working on the plasticine! What better job would you ever want as an adult? We spent 10-ish days or so with our hands inside of this strange mass producing uncountable worms J And then with the help of some digital magic it all sat in place. Now it’s here so you can lean against its energy and rest. If you like it, we are happy.

Potpuno nas je zapanjila količina superlativa koji su se nekako ušuljali s raznih strana u Horvijev tekst. A i konačna ocjena koju je Du pokupio na ispitu bez pitanja.

Du’s new band now has an even newer web page up and standing on its perfectly secluded place in the virtual universe. Druyd is the Heavy Wood Band carved by didgeridoo sounds of Mr Du, guitar beats of Mr Yr and magical voice of Miss BlackMary. They have been heavily working in the field of music-welding and sound-mining for the last few months and now the result has finally gone to the web wide world on its own.

So if you are just a tiny bit interested in hiking through perplexingly hidden landscapes of astral woods, cloudesert kingdoms, curved paths of innerivers and deep sleep wells…… If you are wondering what it’s like to be carried away by songs of the hollow magic wand, the enchanted chord instrument and future-ancient chants… Don’t hesitate – the doors are open.

There was this didgeridoo-guitar song from far away… called Thought from Faraway. It was sent far to mysterious expert judges this summer and got listened by them and re-listened (I suppose) and in the end they decided to give it a prize! Not a gold crown, but a green ribbon.

The prize is called The World of Music Awards by We Are Listening and is the one and only worldwide contest dedicated to world music. Furthermore, it is the most culturally diverse, multi-lingual music event in the world!

Misao iz daleka reached the finals with nine other songs among whom a very interesting chinese singer Gong Linna won. It is, as you may already know, the last song from the new album Kosmopterix, performed on didgeridoo and guitar by Du and Yr who are playing together in a heavy wood band called Druyd. You can see it all with your own eyes and ears on the official site of the Award and you can peek a little there and be proud with us.

It is after all the thought that traveled amazingly far until now and who knows where else the wind will bring it.
